Around twenty-five thousand households in south-east Queensland woke up lacking electricity on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms swept through the area, bringing powerful gusts reaching 109km/h.
Massive Hailstones and Broad Impact
Homeowners observed large ice chunks as large as 7 centimeters in certain regions. Weather authorities announced that various areas across the state had been impacted by large hailstones.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the affected regions, with approximately seventy teams activated to manage the widespread outages.
Victoria's Climate Difficulties
Simultaneously, nearly 1,000 residents in Victoria also encountered energy failures after Melbourne recorded its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services handled over five hundred requests for assistance across the area, mainly for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

At one point on yesterday, in excess of 28,000 electricity consumers in Victoria were without power.

Damp conditions were forecast to persist along significant areas of Queensland's east this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
Tomorrow was expected to become the wettest day, with continued thunderstorm potential anticipated across different parts of both areas.
Health Warning
Medical authorities alerted that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, specifically given the current weather patterns.
